A BIG thank you to all our contributors for your generosity and support in making our trip come true.
Our biggest sponsor by far. Katja's father Heiner constantly amazed us with what came out of the cellar. At times I wondered if he had an entire Land Rover down there. Heiner always wanted to make such a trip and we hope that we will have the chance to pay Heiner and Ingrid back by meeting up with them somewhere along the way.
www.alufuntec.de Walther is a great guy with loads of patience and ideas. We went there for a few aircraft cargo rails (Zurrschienen) and ended up with a totally new conversion of the kitchen area and our NEWEST sponsor. A big thank you to all at Alufuntec - they really are Alu fantastic!! We shall upload some photos of the conversion soon as it really is cool. The aircraft cargo rails really are superb for securing the loads and preventing things shaking loose on your travels.
www.foleyspecialistvehicles.co.uk Peter Foley provided us excellent service and advice throughout our vehicle selection and kitting. Always interested with a good ear and eye for picking up your wants. Highly recommended and very good quality work and prices. The sky is your limit, whatever you want Foley will be able to create it for you. Your expedition vehicle can truely be as big and comfortable as your wallet or as small and versatile as your budget. All round excellent service.
www.mattsavage.co.uk A true English eccentric character, along with his brother and friend in tow Chris Scott. Typical landie and off road nerds, in the nicest sense! and without the patronising attitude of so many other off road/ expedition parts providers we could mention. Matt always has time to listen and interpret the layman's explanation of what is needed. Provides very good, reliable home delivery service.
Without Toddi at T.car we would never have made good the Landy in time. Toddi not only gave over part of his workshop and tools but his expert advice, bright ideas and elbow grease. A big thank you and whats for sure nobody will come through our T.car bullbar!!! Toddi, ohne Dich wuerden wir naechstes Jahr noch schrauben und stressen...vielen tausend Dank!!!
Sievers are going international with their first transporter through Africa, Australia and Asia. Thanks to Henning and Sabine Sievers for their very generous donation of oil, spares and what's more a full load of diesel. It will fuel us all the way to Africa. We'll be sure to fly the Sievers flag along our route.
Thanks to freenet.de for hosting and supporting our site throughout our journey. Normal ist das nicht....
Thanks to Jean and Wilhelm and his wife for all their help and assistance with servicing, changing the timing belt, and providing spare parts for our trip up the east coast to Europe. They provide excellent quality of work and great friendship. If you need anything done to your Landie when in Cape Town go nowhere else but here. They are based out in Wellington.
Outdoor warehouse SA - A Big thank you to Claude and Outdoor warehouse in Jo'berg. When our fridge developed a terminal case and was put on ice, Claude and Outdoor warehouse donated a brand new Waeco fridge complete with insulation jacket and spare cables. Amazing after sales service and wonderful helpful and friendly people. You extra mile will keep us chilled all the way home. Thank you Thank you!!!
Eezi Awn SA - Thanks to Tony and Eezi Awn. One thing is for sure no other tent and awning provider gives as good after sales service as Eezi Awn. By far the best products and service. Thanks to Tony and Eezi Awn our roof tent got a full renovation service and all free of charge. Thanks for making our nights more comfortable again!!!
Maack Getranke - Probably the most neglected part of any trip of this kind are the driver and navigator. Whilst in the case of David, severe renovation is needed, the trusty folks and friends at Maack Getranke have kindly donated plenty of oil to lubricate the parts other beers cannot reach. Thanks to Maack for fuelling us on our trip with plenty of Jever Pilsner Beer. We shall Prost you all in the Sahara with an ice cold beer .....ah... utopia!!!
A big thank you to Bernd and Connie Kebbler for their fantastic hospitality and friendship extended to us during our stay in Windhoek. Special thanks to Bernd for allowing me use of the workshop and for all the assistance in getting the DuK ship shape again.
